We are pleased to present our inaugural artist residency taking place during the month of July with Kansas City based artist and writer moll caffey. We’ll still have programming in the front space periodically, in addition to open studios with Moll, and whatever else comes up this month. We’ll update here as well as on our Instagram, so stay tuned.
under your tongue (what you keep), an exhibition of work from moll’s time in residency, will open on August 11 from 7-10pm with a musical performance, food, special drinks.
caffey is consumed by considerations on the states of being and becoming and spends a great deal of time talking and thinking about the phenomenon of life and the constant turning-over, stretching, and morphing of it through evolution. The work they pull up and out and forth, can be considered a “visual poetics” in that it is necessary for them to traverse between written and symbolic/ formal aesthetic languages to propose and translate, which is usually non-linear and rides a frequency of association, practices the same as life by culling together seemingly disparate parts to come to a point. It is all inspired by the motif of the web – possibly the meta-structure of the universe.
